You will be contacted before work has begun regarding any additional costs. In accepting this merchandise, it is understood that this store or any of its employees are not responsible for the condition or identification of the jewelry or stones at the time of receipt. Since many stone treatments such as fracture-filling, laser drilling, or other clarity and color enhancements may be undetectable to the eye, it is the responsibility of the customer to notify HVG of these pre-existing conditions. HVG is not responsible for stones that may be damaged in setting or during the repair work due to these unknown conditions. Repairs are guaranteed for 1 year only in the area in which it was repaired, we do not guarantee other stores’ craftsmanship, even if we repair the piece. Occasionally we will notify you that a repair is not recommended or guaranteed, but we will go ahead with it per your instruction with the understanding that the repair might not hold or there could be additional damage to the piece (these include but are not limited to: hollow chains, eyeglass repair, very worn tennis bracelets, eternity bands,
pieces with existing repairs done elsewhere). In no guarantee repairs, they must be paid in full before work is started and no refunds will be given. Items left for over 1 year will be sold to recover repair and service costs.
Hudson Valley Goldsmith, Ltd. (HVG) sells conflict free diamonds which are compliant with the Kimberly Process and recycled diamonds. HVG stocks and sells natural diamonds, if diamonds have been subjected to industry accepted enhancements, it is clearly disclosed. HVG sells diamonds with and without laboratory reports (“certified” diamonds), if HVG sells a diamond which was graded in our laboratory, we guarantee that it will grade as high on color, clarity and carat weight as the GIA would grade. On request, HVG will sell factory made (also called ‘lab created”) diamonds, the customer should be aware that while factory made diamonds are “real” diamonds, they do not hold their value the same way that naturally occurring diamonds do. We source polished and raw diamonds from all over the world including but not limited to: Belgium, Israel, India, Canada, Russia and various African Nations. Diamonds are one of the hardest natural compounds on Earth but can chip and scratch if hit.
Gemstone purchasers should be aware that natural gemstones are processed from the time they are extracted from the earth by one or more traditionally accepted gem and jewelry industry practices. All colored gemstones have most likely been subjected to a stable and possibly undetectable enhancement process to improve color and/or stability. Such enhancements may include but are not limited to: heat, irradiation, and impregnation. All relevant information will be readily provided to the best of our knowledge. Prevailing market values are based on these universally practiced and accepted processes by the gem and jewelry trade. All gemstones can chip or scratch if hit; certain gemstones should not get wet, be subjected to extreme temperature changes, etc.
Appraisals are made with the understanding that the appraiser and/ or Hudson Valley Goldsmith, Ltd. (HVG) accepts no liability with respect to any action that may be taken on the basis of an appraisal, if legal action is taken as a result of any appraisal made by HVG, the customer agrees to pay all legal costs in full. The estimated value is listed for insurance purposes at current retail value excluding all taxes. HVG does not agree to replace or purchase the appraised articles. In finished jewelry, diamonds and gemstones have been inspected and/ or graded while set, therefore all weights and grades are approximate. In some cases (especially if the diamond is set), there is no way to definitively test if certain diamonds are natural or factory-made, it is the customer’s responsibility to disclose if their diamond is natural or has had enhancements as the value is significantly different. In certain instances, HVG will recommend additional grading and/ or testing at an outside independent laboratory (GIA), it is the customer’s responsibility to pay for all of the additional laboratory report, shipping or transit costs, additionally, it is the customer’s responsibility to have the diamond or gemstone insured while outside of HVG.
